The 2011 HIT-MSRA Summer School on Human Language Technology, supported by Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) and hosted by the MOE-MS Joint Key Lab of NLP and Speech in Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), is once again offering an exciting summer school opportunity for a limited number of students interested in Human Language Technology and Computational Linguistics.

Our summer school also belongs to Graduate Education Innovation Project of Chinese Ministry of Education.

The Summer School will be held on August 1-10, 2011 in Harbin (Heilongjiang), China. The school is co-sponsored by Microsoft Research Asia ( MSRA ) and Harbin Institute of Technology ( HIT ).

THE FOCUS OF THIS SUMMER SCHOOL

The school is the sixth installment of the MSRA-HIT NLP Summer School Series, which started in 2005. The primary purpose of the school is to discuss and apply theories and results in important areas of Language technology and Computational Linguistics, with the help of leading scholars and researchers.

This year's summer school will offer a broad range of courses, introducing students not only to machine learning, machine translation, information extraction and natural language generation, but also to semantic analysis and parsing. Most courses will contain a practical component in which students carry out a small project.

Lectures and project work will take place on the HIT Campus. The working language of the school is English.
